This beautiful, single story cottage is nearing completion on British Columbia’s coast, located on the Gulf Islands. The home itself was designed by these homeowners, along with our expert design team. It is a 844 square foot rancher with one bedroom and one bathroom, as well as a wet room that is directly accessible from outside. When choosing who to build with, the home owners decided to work with Pacific Homes, largely because of their remote location. We build the majority of the home’s components off site at our facility on Vancouver Island. These components are then delivered to location, no matter how remote, where they are then assembled into one cohesive home.
The 844 square foot design is purposeful with its use of space, making it feel much bigger than it is. The main entrance opens to an alcove that provides ample space for storage and serves as a mudroom. Adjacent to this room is the bedroom. This room features vaulted ceilings, an en suite bathroom and sliding door access to the wrap around deck. This substantial amount of deck extends the square footage of the home significantly throughout the summer months when the cottage will see the majority of its use. The rest of the square footage inside is dedicated to an open concept space that combines a kitchen, dining area and living room. This space provides more than enough room to live comfortably, cook, dine and entertain for many summers to come.
The space also opens to the mudroom mentioned earlier. This bathroom is accessible directly from outside, which is perfect after exploring all that British Columbia’s west coast has to offer. Also attached to the home is a storage room accessible from outside as well as a crawlspace below with ample storage space.
