What You’ll Do:
• Keep a pulse on team health and morale; generate positive energy
• Maintain a positive relationship with all staff utilizing good communication skills
• Hire, train, develop, promote, and discipline all staff reporting to you
• Provide regular coaching and feedback to your direct reports, to grow individual functional skills and leadership capability in those individuals.
• Be a leader in safety and make sure that all staff comply with Safety Policies
• Perform written probationary and annual performance evaluations, as well as ongoing verbal performance evaluations throughout the year
• Resolve employee complaints and concerns
• Arrange staff work schedules to be fair and productive for the company and employees, while ensuring that jobs are completed on schedule and on budget.
• Lead by example, designing jobs (Proposals & Orders) as needed to even out Design capacity at peak times.
• Maintain key performance indicators for individual staff, as well as the department as a whole
• Organize agendas, schedules and record keeping for all design meetings.
• Be open to and encourage ideas from your staff and peers
• Educate staff through product information sessions
• Ensure customers are satisfied with our products and service
• Work with the Sales Teams and their customers to resolve problems and provide options to improve their building designs.
• Sign and authorize all expense reports, approve electronic timecards, schedule vacations.
• Take on other tasks as assigned by the General Manager when necessary.
What You Bring:
• A ‘big picture’ perspective, with a strong ability to innovate existing systems and integrate new systems into existing processes.
• A proven ability to lead, delegate, and foster a team environment.
• Degree/Diploma in Engineering or technology. Proven post-secondary training may also be considered.
• 5+ years’ experience in both Commercial and Residential component design
• Structural engineering design experience, with a strong ability to accurately read plans.
• The ability to visualize and understand the relationship between two-dimensional plans and three-dimensional models created from them.
• Proficient in the use of structural design software (Mitek or Alpine) and knowledge in drafting software.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams).
• BisTrack accounting software experience is an asset.
• Experience and understanding of the Continuous Improvement principles

• Strong organizational skills and excellent time management skills to manage multiple projects.
