At Pacific Homes, we’re serious about our commitment to innovation and quality; always thriving towards a higher goal!

Recently, in an effort to improve efficiency while taking advantage of new available technology, our wall plant upgraded its makeshift shaper and vertical panel saw to a proper shaper and a sliding table saw. Felder’s K 500 S saw and Powermatic’s PM2700 shaper both come equipped with a higher precision than was possible with their older counterparts.

Some of the K 500 S’s notable features include an extra large table top, a swiveling guide system that is capable of making exceptionally accurate cuts, and guaranteed chip-free cutting. On the other hand, the PM2700 boasts electronic controls that allow adjustments as small as 0.001” in spindle height, air casters built into the base for easy mobility, multiple spindle speeds, and a superior clear cutting guard which promotes safety and careful observation.

Equally important is the reactions from the people who run the machinery, and thus far, they have been impressed by both pieces of equipment. When asked about his opinion on the new hardware, one experienced employee said that he was absolutely thrilled about the new additions, stating that the saw and shaper are “a million times better than the old ones” and that these are the tools he wish he had at home. John Adams – a longstanding Pacific Homes wall builder – expressed a similar view by saying “The machines are way quieter and much more efficient than the previous ones, and even though the sizes of the tables can make working around them a bit awkward, I am happy that we are upgrading.”
