Cowichan Valley Modern Farmhouse – The second time around.
This project profile follows the work of one of our client’s second build with us.
I’m guessing I’m not alone, many of us have a vision of that home, the perfect home that is made up of the scrapbook of our ideas. This is our client’s second home designed and built with our team at Pacific Homes. Our clients, working with Project Consultant Paul Latter, were looking to downsize on a large farmhouse we built for them over 11 years ago.
Nestled in on a flat lot in the Cowichan Valley, their new project has some amazing features. The front entry porch offers warmth and true craftsmanship with fir timber accents. This energy-efficient Modern Farmhouse design was inspired by a farm store that was dear to our client’s hearts on their original property.
The floor plan offers 1257 sq. ft. in the main residence and an additional 606 sq. ft on the attached suite. The main house has an efficient floor plan that offers plenty of space. The front entry opens right into the open living, dining room & kitchen that creates an amazing entertaining space. A large master suite on the main floor and a spare bedroom in the rear of the house, finish off the main floor perfectly.
The exterior of this house has some classic farmhouse style taken from the original farm store on their property but has been updated with modern simplicity and clean lines. We are in love with the white colour paired with the richness of the dark roofing. The warmth of the Douglas Fir beams at the entry tops the exterior off perfectly. The sprawling foundations and covered porches make for a great opportunity to incorporate indoor-outdoor living with big open sliders and french doors. This home has beautiful windows and great light. This Ranch style home offers such a cool vibe.
Take a look at where the inspiration came from:
“There is no better way to build a home yourself. From design to finish the service is first class all the way. We have done 2 homes with Pacific, the first a 5000 sq ft pretty intense one, and now 10 years later downsizing to 1200 sq ft rancher. Treated the same regardless of size and dollars. Lots of time spent with us getting the designs just right, picking out the materials, pros and cons of all the different options and no pressure to go one way or the other. Just what works best for you and your budget. Even during COVID they have made everything work perfectly.”
